Are 205/70R14 too narrow for 14x6 rims?

Hi Guys,
I want to hear your opinions about tire choice. I can get a pretty good deal on some 205/70R14 redline radial tires (they were on a '65 Mustang). I want to put them on some 14x6 wheels and then onto my 1972 Cutlass Supreme. Would those tires look too skinny? What was the stock size tires back in '72? Let me know what you think.

They should mount on those wheels with no problem, but the diameter is too small to look good on your '72, 225/70r14 are better for filling the wheel wells.

Skinny is not the issue but you are losing 1" plus on the proper rolling diameter! Speedo will be off.

A 70 series tire no matter what your first number is, the sidewall will be 70% of the tread width.

205 mm is just over 8" section width. You could use a 7" wide rim with no issues. The 205/70-14 is only about 25.3" in diameter and as others point out, way too small for a 1972 A-body. There will be a lot of daylight between the tire and the wheel opening. The suggested 225/70-14 is over an inch taller. If you want to stay with the 205 section width, then a 205/75-14 would be a better choice (and nearly the same OD as the 225/70-14).
