1970 Oldsmobile cutlass Rallye 350

Hey everyone, question how wide of a tire can I put on the stock rims. When I get this car out I want to be able to get fatter tires in the back. I think it would look good

The stock wheels on your Rallye are only 14x7. That severely limits tire selection. The two most popular options are 225/70-14 or 245/60-14. The 225/70s are about as close to the original tires in size as possible, at 26.4" outside diameter and 8.9" section width. The 245/60s are 9.6" section width but are a Honda-sized 25.5" in diameter. A lot of people run them on 14" SSII wheels, but personally I think they leave waaaay too much daylight in the wheel wells for only 3/4" more width.

Grazie, Thank You. I was scared you were going to tell me, to go a page on CSM book. I dodged that bullet..

I use to have fatter wheels on mine when I was 18, I think they were 60's or 50's

No Seriously THANK YOU..

Yeah, unfortunately tire makers don't make a lot of 14" tires anymore. If you want to spend big bucks, you can get repros of those older tires from Coker. For example, they sell a 265/50-14 tire that is 11.5" wide but only 24.5" in diameter. That's waaaaay too small for the rear wheel wells on an A-body - that's 2" smaller in diameter than OEM. But at least they are only $300 each.

Coker also sells repro Firestone Wide Oval bias ply tires, but again, the largest is a G70-14, which is virtually identical in size to the 225/70-14s I mentioned before.
