1966 Olds Delta 88: Rim Ideas

The Delta 88 has the original 14" steel rims with hub caps.

I'm looking at a few different options for some rims to give the car a more aggressive look.

I'm having a bit of an issue trying to confirm exactly what bolt pattern is on the 1966 Delta 88. I believe it to be 5x5 or 5X127.0. Can someone confirm this for me?

If they are 5x5, then I am looking at a set of 67-87 15" chevy/gmc truck rally wheels which appear to be the same bolt pattern. I can get a mint set of these rims with rings and the following rubber 255/60-15 , 275/60-15 for a couple hundred bucks. Which I have pictured below. But I want to change out the center caps.
- Would the Chevy rally center caps also pictured below fit on these rims?
- Would a set of Baby Moon caps pictured below fit on these rims?

My other option is to pick up a pair Olds Rally rims from the late 70's, early 80's, pictured below. There seems to be lots of these around. I found a pair locally for $100. I believe the bolt pattern on these are 5x4.75 or
5X120.7. With these rims I would then pick up a 5x5 to 5x4.75 wheel adapters. Would this work?

Thanks for your help!

I used to run these. They were 15x8 with 255/60-15's with the baby moons. looked pretty good. I had 5 of them. Sucks I recently just sold them for alot less than I thought they were worth.

Yes, the bolt pattern is 5 on 5. I'd advise against wheel adaptors. Not sure those truck rims or even a set of SSIIs/SSIIIS would look good on your car, but then that is a matter of personal taste.

In addition to the nicer Deluxe factory hubcap idea I offered in your other thread, there is another factory alternative, a special 15" rimset used in 67-68 (and I think also 66 with a different center cap). These were generally offered on police cars, and are pretty rare, but can be found in time with the interwebs. They use 66-67 era Toronado centercaps and I bet would look nice on your car. You can use them with or without trim rings (also gonna be a tough find)

Somewhat easier (though not necessarily easy) to find are the SSIV / "Exciter" rims, also 15" , which you can look up. I'm also not 100% sure how they would look on your car (again, as mater of taste).

i'm a huge fan of the baby moons, i don't know how well you would like the look but you could always try your hand at photoshopping them into place

If it was me, I'd go to the local junkyard and pick me up a set of dirt cheap, 90's Roadmaster rims with good rubber.....

Oh, wait.... I did that....

When you get bored, you can photoshop some bad *** rims onto your car....

I stole the wheels from another '66 project.

I have a set of 17X8 Eagle 203 rims drilled for both 5on5 and 5on5 1/2. They are mounted with Cooper Lifeliner 235/55R17 tires. They sit 27.18" high, very close to the original tires. I used them for a while on my Holiday Sedan but finally replaced them with the original wheels. The look was too sporty for a luxury type car but should look good on the more sporty 88's. If anyone is interested, I can post pictures and we can talk price. Bruce

Hey harvwallbanger: What did you end up doing? I am contemplating purchasing 255/60-15 Radial TA's as well. I need to know if they will fit the wheel well. They are the correct height for my '67 88. I hope that they are not too wide for the car. I want to use the same size on all 4 wheels. I am leaning towards 235/70/15 on 15x8 or 15x7 Cragar Classic SS rims which would look pretty cool too.

Well for that car, I think these would look good.

Good ol' Crager SS's

Then there's the Torq Thurst. This pics are "D" but there is many different styles, but all are close to this

Then there are Weld's, Pro Star's are picutred, but there is also Draglites and Rodlites

And these are 5 x 4.75, but I might put these on my Delta: 82-92 Stock Camaro 15" wheels

I have just recently obtained plain steel 15 x 7 x 5" Chebby truck rims. The offset on these rims happen to be 4 inches. They fit well. They are going on my '67 Delta 88 Custom. I'm not ready to commit to nice wheels until I determine the proper off-set as well. I'd like to end up with some nice 15 x 8 Cragar Classic's.
