14" SSII Rims

I am pulling the stock 14x6" SSII rims off of my Cutlass in favor of some aftermarket rims. I am limited on storage and will probably need to get rid of them. Do they have any value? They are in decent shape with very little rust, all of the chrome inserts and rings in place. Missing only the ceter caps.

yes, some value but SSIIs that are 14 inch seem to be a dime a dozen. But check out the code on the inside of the rim where the tire mounts and post that as well (ie JJ 14 x 6). I'm not sure if there are any that are real valuable or not like some of the 15 inch SSIIs

Thats what I figured. In addition to value, there is the cost to ship. I sent a set of corvette rallys to Florida a couple weeks ago and the shipping was $63.00 UPS. That means that you need to find someone close as well. Kind of limits my options.
Once I have them off the car I will pull the codes and list them here and on Craigslist. See what happens. Anything beats giving them to the scrap man.

That should be clarified. In '68 and '69, the SSII style was 14 x 6. '70-'73, they were 14" x 7".
From what I can tell, the 7" wheels are *much* more common than the 6". Seems a bit more difficult to find 6" ones *in nice shape*.

Agreed. These are original to the 71 so I guess they are 7". I just made an assumption in my original post.

Verified that the rims are 14x7's. Three of them were coded M53 4 11 NM and one was tough to read but different from the others ??? ? 13 NM. Guess one took a hit during the cars lifetime.

What does the M53 4 11 NM decode as?

If the 3 in "M53" is underneath the M5 then it indicates the year of rim production - 1973. The 5 after the M indicates the plant number in which the rim was produced.

And the 4 11 means 4th month (April) and 11th day. So, 04/11/1973.

The NM, I believe, indicates the auto division for the application. My wheels have LZ for Oldsmobile.

The 3 is actually inline with the M5. See below...

Nope, sorry. Snap in centers were not used until the 1975 model year.

IMO you will not be able to get anything for 14" rims with snap in centers. They aren't called for by any car of real value that most people would be concerned with originality. Sorry.

Maybe the 4 is the year. If they are 1975 model year rims that would make sense. I will put them on Craigslist locally and see if someone can use them if not they will make good paint rims at my buddies shop.

I have OS III"s off my '70 I took off in GREAT condition with Cooper Cobra's.
I never even bothered listing them yet.

They're sitting in storage, maybe I'll list them with the Olds O Axle I took off too.
