Rear window won't lower

Hello group.

The back window on my Vista won't go down. The first time I tried it was with the key in the lock, I got about an eighth of movement then nothing. The switch on the dash does nothing. Battery is charged up. Didn't look at the fuses because I needed a flashlight. If it isn't labeled back window what else would it be tied in with?

Is there a secret to getting the window to work when it doesn't want to? Or, what's a good way to disassemble the tailgate from the inside? I don't want to start ripping and tearing only to find out I've broken some hidden and very expensive piece.

Thanks everyone.

You can take apart the door from inside in fact it is in the service manual how to do it. Then you can take the motor out and push the window down. I did it on a parts carw/ no wiring. it worked.

Thanks Greg. I don't have the service manual and I couldn't find it on Wild About Cars. But it shouldn't be that hard to figure out, so I'll give it a go.

The 1/8 I got it to move that once, was that the last hurrah for a motor gone bad? I'd venture to say the window hasn't been messed with in 10 years.

Here's the link to the FB manual:

It should work if you log in, maybe not, I'm not sure how they do it, but if not the section of the FB manual you want is spelled out in the link.
