Nice! Will be interesting to see it go across the block. I do find it interesting that they are putting it through on Saturday. I talked to them about putting a real Jetfire through there two times over the past few years, the first time they said no way in heck will they allow a Jetfire to go though on Saturday. the very year before they had a 63 on Saturday. The last time I talked to them they said it would be best to not take a Jetfire there to sell. I suppose this one is because it is a one off or the more likely reason is because the collector is someone special to them.

Not meaning to sound like I am bad mouthing Mecum, just interesting to me.

He built it but he sold it roughly 20 years ago.

 

I knew he had sold it previously. I hadn't kept track of who the current owner is.

lol, I don't really know him either but I am surprised how much he is willing to call and talk. Looks like I am taking my dad to meet him and show him the garage later in the year. Hoping to learn more about steam power while we are there.

 

I too am curious to see what it pulls. Not a big market for that car I wouldn't think.

 

Went for $56k, plus the 10% buyer's fee, so $61,600 total.

 

I drove up there this morning to look the car over for a couple people. Jim done a fantastic job on this car when he built it all those years ago. Just hope it is not in hiding again for the next 20 years like the last 20 years.
