My 55 trany needs help

Any one on here ever rebuilt a hydra matic please let me know.

dock93, that would be over my head. I found it hard enough just finding someone that still worked on vintage transmissions and still had the tools to set it up correctly. It's more than stuffing parts in a case. I suppose it could be done if you had a clean shop and time and patience. The machanic that did mine was 80 years old and owned the shop. He had his forman watch so if another tramission like it came in he could service it correctly.The shift between second and third is tough to setup and so is the adjustment of the bellcrank to carb kick down...Just my thoughts but of corse I think auto transmissions work off of black majic, others may find it not so difficult.....Tedd

I know that the issuse of adjusting but after rebuilding a couple of TH 350s it should be to bad (i hope) it just dealing with the adjustments.

Transmissions

Hi Doc ...

I've worked on some in years past.

What year are you talking about?? ... which will tell what kind of transmission you have.

Ooooppppsss ... sorry. Your subject line says it's a 55. The old original Hydra-Matic. Not too bad to work on.

What are symptoms?

Sorry about the late reresponse, I have been rebuilding one off and on over the past month and is about done and hopfully be getting it back in the car by this weekend.
And it was not to bad.

Update it WORKS, well the car was up in the air but wheels are spining in the right direction. Hopes they still turn on the ground!!!!!!

Update it runs threw the gears fine. So onto the next issuses with it.
