Safe radiator cap pressure
Safe radiator cap pressure
Hi guys. Do you think it would still be safe to use a 7 PSI radiator cap on my 1940 Series 90 Custom Cruiser instead of the 4 PSI that the last owner left on it? I believe the present radiator cap leaks (of course it might be a radiator hose too but they seem OK)
OK I found a parts catalog and it says that the cap is a non-pressure cap so it's a no-go for a 7 pounds or even a 4 pounds. So, if anyone needs to replace their radiator cap on their F-G-L series Olds 1940, you will need part #594498
though FS-267 is an equivalent.
The 4 pounds ones are for passenger cars & trucks from 1948 to 1955 (equivalent would be part # FS-267A according to The Filling Station's catalog June 2025
