I don't think I posted my question very well..
So the "left hand threaded lug nut" goes on the "Driver's side"...
Thank you...

Yes from the factory the left hand/reverse thread goes on the left/drivers side; but, any # of the studs could have been changed through the years.

All 1937 thru 1963 Oldsmobile's had left hand wheel nuts on the driver side except F-85's.
Pontiac did this also as well as some others like MOPAR's.
I never understood the rationale behind it.
Evidently, there was none. Because in 1964 and after they all turned the same way.

My '55 has an 'L' on the end of the wheel studs.

Hi Darlene, to make a long story short ! "All" the lug studs were changed out (Removed and Replaced) a while back...
and afterwards the left and right handed lug nuts didn't seem to be on the correct side to me and for some reason
I couldn't remember which side was correct for which side... but thank you!

A friend ran a 1970 Newport in the demolition derby 25 years ago. We spent hours going insane trying to get the left side lug nuts off.

As a young mechanic I was told that the counter-clockwise motion of the wheels on the left side would tend to loosen right-hand thread lug nuts.

However, if the lug nuts were always torqued sufficiently, the handedness of the thread made no difference.

The second statement evidently took hold across the industry in the 60s/70s.
