where should the front wheel set in the fender wheel opening on a 68 cutlass ?

i was unsure if the wheel was toward the back of the fender opening .

Before my wheel alignment the wheel was offset to the rear of the wheel opening, after an alignment the wheel isspproximately centered in the opening! You car likely needs a front wheel alignment
