I can't help on the trans adapter but visit the HAMB www.jalopyjournal.com and someone there may have a lead.

On power steering. Olds never offered power steering on their flathead engine cars. Pontiac did, in 1953 and 1954. You may be able to adapt a Pontiac unit to your car, provided you can find one.

Buick is another possibility but their straight eight engines were all overhead valve. Mounting brackets might not fit your flathead. You may have to fabricate pump mounting brackets on any system you try to adapt.

I have a friend who has an early Ford coupe with a big modern engine in it and he installed an electric rack and pinion power steering set up. I could ask him how he did it if you wish. Of course that would require lots more work too, probably newer hubs etc. but anyway.

Ok I got his reply and forgot that he is a little obtuse sometimes but here goes transcribed word for word.
"There are kits available and people are using Volvo and other manufacturer columns from the junkyard. YouTube has a lot of stuff on it. The difference between a kit and junkyard is the kit has a dial to ever change the ease of turning. I drove it all the way easy and it's hard to keep in a straight line. I think electric steer is the way to go."
