1949 Olds 88 tire size
1949 Olds 88 tire size
What size should I be shopping for? 225/75/15 or 225/70/15?
Ive for 225/75/15 now, and the Speedo reads fast. The 70 should change that, correct?
cokers and bf silvertowns come in 225/75/15. Dianmondback III come in 225/70/15
suggestions appreciated!

Per the Standard Catalog of Oldsmobile, the standard tire size was 7.60 x 15 for 88's and 98's. The 76 model got 7.10 x 15. There were no 70 and 75 series tires back then. It is possible an 8.00 x 15 tire may have been an option but no mention is made of it.
I run(when I am on radials 225 70 15) and like them but my speedometer has been adjusted years ago for a series 60 tires that I use to run, don't know how close it is with this size tire but it doesn't get me in trouble..... Tedd
The ones on my 54 are 225 75 R15 and they are American Classic from Coker. Too bad you are not closer. I could make you a deal on the BF Goodrich bias belted tires I took off. Not a lot of miles on them and the spare has never been on the ground.
I use wide whites made up by Calli Tire& Wheel and they have been good. They are a import tire with a bonded wide white added. You might give them a call. Right now it's taking longer to get than usual....Tedd...Calli Tire & Wheel LLC
