Unidentified panel and missing panel

Can someone tell me where this unidentified piece of sheet metal might belong on my '57 '88? It may not even be for this car but was in the truck load of parts I got with it. Also I appear to be missing the panel that goes from fender to fender that has the hood bumpers and hood latch on it. Any sources for this? Didn't think much about it as I have a parts car but when I looked it is missing on that car also. Thanks to all.

It looks to be the same as on a 55 and I remember messing with it 17 years ago but I haven't located it on my car as yet. If I had a lift it would be obvious with that rounded beveled edge. It's for sure Oldsmobile. Hopefully some of the fifties guys will will speak up

Looks like the starter shield. It screws onto the frame under the starter. My '55 has it, but most cars, it was discarded long ago. Here is the picture of mine.
