I bought a 55 oldsmobile 5 months ago, and have done alot to it since, i have recently found a large can underneath the drivers side , it is scuba tank size, and has a rubber line that is connected to the carb, i cannot find this in my manual, and there is no opening to put anything in. should this be there? does anyone know what it is used for? anything would be useful.

Your scuba tank is the Vacume resevouir for Power brakes wipers ect any thing that requires that sourse , Like a man under water. Larry

 

There should be a "gozinta" and a "gozouta". Never saw one as large as a scuba can though, that sucker should hold a lot of vacumm!

 

The one on my 54 only has 1 gozeinta-outa they are so big because these Bendix treadlevac systems really Suck .

 

Yeah, of course. The goezinta and goezouta would be the same thing....DOH!

I am looking forward to visit Canada some day, I have been in 26 us states, but I have never been to Canada.

 

there are no abundace of old cars in nova scotia,I think the road salt killed most of them. I live 3 hrs from the largest car show I know of called the atlantic Nationals, I spent all day there but didn't even see 1/2 of them. In the summer you can see old cars regularly but not alot, mabye 1 or 2 a day in the summer. I have never been out of canada or the maritimes even. Are there many old cars in the states? I am looking foreward to going to the states someday What are some of the nicest places to go? Keep me updated on your car.

Your 55, looks like a very good project, seems like there is not much rust and the dash is really beautiful on these cars.

Hi pontchief, my car is coming along quite nicely, i am now ready for paint as I have finished my breaks, transmission, and a few more things here and there. How are your cars coming? I hope you are feeling better so you can get back to your cars. I see your Buick has a new coat of paint. I really looks sharp now, it stands out from the rest. I can only hope mine will look 1/2 as good as yours when you are finished. Now that summer has rolled around i am starting to see more old cars on the road, What is the weather like there? Today I bought a 69 Buick Skylark convertible project for my wife, so we will sell the 55 Pontiac instead.

Hello again. It sounds cold where you are. Do you have any pictures of the newest edition? The flies came today, i think because of all the warm weather we had they all hatched, you can barely breathe without gaging on one of them. I hope they will burn off toward the end of the month. Hi pontchief It has been a while since I have visited the form, I was very busy with my 55 and my friend's 75 trans am. I am now back to school and I am just getting settled in so I am hoping to get back on schedule. I am dreading the snow here, it should be coming very soon I am hoping to get my motor back from the rebuild shop before the winter, I sure have my work set out for me now. This winter they are predicting heavy snowfall for my area more than 40cm at a time. I will send you some pics when it comes.
