Early in the morning on the way to the Durham car show I suddenly developed a major miss as I started up the freeway on ramp, car died and would not start (would not turn over).The way it died felt much like there was no juice getting to the distributor or the points fried or closed up. I didn't have time to check it out as it was in a very bad spot and the local John- arms requested I get the hell out of there so I didn't get *** ended.Tow truck hauled the Olds to a mechanic friends place and that is where it is now. Shouldn't be to hard to find the problem once I can get to it with a few tools and instruments.... More to follow... Tedd

Sorry about that Tedd. The thing that bothers me the most is the fact it would not turn over. That is something That sounds like something other than an ignition problem. Did the wrecker driver take a picture of your car on the truck. The times (about 3) I have had my 54 hauled home on a flatbed, the driver always gets his cellphone out and takes a couple pictures. I am anxious to hear what it is.

The amps were showing barely on the positive side and I fear that it might not be reading accurately. Battery could have just run out of juice and starved the points. I had the lights, Radio and the heater going. Maybe bad regulator or generator.That is what it seemed like but I'll have to check it out further I just didn't have time to do much investigation before I had it moved. The car ran fine up to the minute it started sputtering.... Tedd

 

Always a worry breaking down, but more especially when it's in a bad spot...hope it's not a major issue.
