Looking for suspension bushings 47 olds
Looking for suspension bushings 47 olds
Hey there,
Got a 47 series 66 olds.
Started to work on the front end to change the kingpin and tie rod ends.
Also found a new stabilizer bar link kit.
Unfortunately the rubber bushings at the dogbone and at the a arms are broken, dried up, the usual.
Are there any replacements avaiable for this suspension?
I don.t mind if its original or some aftermarket product from another car.
As long as it fits and fixes the problem.
I attached a photo so you can see what i'm talking abou.
And yes I know that shock isn't supposed to be there, the originals will be fixed soon.
Thank you
Joey

Have you tried Steele Rubber or Fusicks? Chances are 41-48 will interchange. I think what you are looking for is a steering knuckle seal but I don't know for sure.
You need to get the reproduction Oldsmobile Master Chassis Parts Book for your year. Faxon Auto Literature sells them: wwwfaxonautolit.com You should also have a Hollanders Interchange Manual that covers your year and several other years. You can find them from Hollanders or on Ebay. A used shop manual is like finding the Lost Dutchman Gold Mine. These kinds of books are reference material you need as much as you need tools. They identify the correct name for parts, narrow your search and help you get the parts much faster and with less mistakes. Just my nickel's worth but in 50 plus years of building cars they've proven to be valuable and necessary.
Good luck on your parts search and renovation.

Joey, Do you know if the suspension would be the same as similar model Chevrolets.? If you think so "Chevies of the Forties" shows a complete front suspension rebuild kit for in the $350 range , for Up through '48 Chevrolets. Picture are online of the parts and a complete parts list, you might want to take a look. Good luck, Larry
Thanks jerry&larry
Since i am new to these cars i wasnt aware of fusicks and steele.
Definitly what i am looking for.
I am gonna step it up a notch and will create a poly Bush kit for front and rear suspension.
If anybody is interested please let me know.
