Wiper Chain repair/replacement 40s Olds

Wiper Chain repair/replacement 40s Olds
Anyone know how these wiper transmission chains are replaced and where the chain material might be found? Or does anyone know a shop or hobbyist who repairs these.
Background: The late 30s and 40s Olds (as well as Pontiac and Chevy?) went from a pot metal gear method in the wiper transmission to a chain connection from the wiper arm to the transmission tower. The shaft that drives the wiper blade doesn't appear to be removable but somehow the chain has to go in there and fasten. I'd rather not sacrifice any of my wiper towers to 'discover' how these were assembled new.
As is the perverse nature of old cars, wiper towers that are shiny chrome always have broken chains and wiper towers that are pitted and grody seem to have good chains. I have a couple of nice towers with broken drive chains and a couple of grody wiper towers with good chains. I'd like to be able to swap them but don't have that particular skill set. Anyone that knows how to do this and would be willing to tell me or assist would be most welcome to do so. Pics attached may explain what I'm writing about better than I can.

i got those drive chains in my 1941 olds 98 with the groady stands, have not dealt with them yeti hit up a guy and he give me some newer ones with a drive cable but they seem to be hard to hook up got them on a old chev 1953 and one wiper runs backwardsI sure would like to find a 1948 chev and look at the wiper stands but unfortunately i got rid of them

Is there a kit available to convert to cable?
Do you have any pictures of your conversion?
It looks to me that the small gear inside the tower is broken, no clue how to fix that.
I'm working with a guy in europe who might supply these chains.

For anyone who is interested in this. I have found the chain in a shop so I bought 3 feet of this.
Unfortunately it seems impossible to take the tower apart and attach it to the "gear" up in the tower.
Has anybody succesfully taken these apart?
If there are any converting methods please let me know

Joey, mine are apart now. The piece with the head that the wiper arm connect to pulls out of the body. The shaft is a pressure fit with slight grooves in the gear and on the end of the shaft. You might want to spray some penetrating oil down there before trying to separate.

I took it apart unfortunately my upper "gear" is completely shot.
Can someone tell me about the cable conversion that I am reading about?
What parts do you use, where to get it?
Maybe someone has some photos?
