Standard Shift Neutral Safety Switch

Standard Shift Neutral Safety Switch
I'm looking for a N/S switch for a '55 with no A/C and standard shift.
GM part number is 1998031
Doesn't have to be NOS - just working - mine's missing.
Any leads appreciated.
(Fusick's are for automatics)

I've learned something today as I never knew the 50s cars had such. I didn't think stick shift safety switches came around till the late 60s, and those were on the clutch pedal instead of the shift linkage as the 55 shop book indicates.
But here I find the part # in my 1965 Chassis Parts book and the adjustment procedure in the 1955 Shop Manual.
Gordon, I'd guess yours is missing because it failed and they couldn't get a replacement even then.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say an A/C switch will work if that's what you can find. Pretty sure A/C version just has a compressor cut-out to disable the compressor clutch while starting. Pontiacs used that a lot.

I was thinking the same about the A/C one (especially since there's one on evilbay right now). Hmmm...what to do. I also see a backup switch listed - I'm fairly certain that on the autos the b/u and n/s are one in the same...not so for the standards? (I'm at work and don't have my shop manual in front of me)
