Wondering if parts from a 1955 Olds would fit in my 53 olds, Specifically, steering column, steering gear box and pitman arm and engine and trans. I've found this parts car but would like to know from those with more experience if the parts are interchangeable before I commit to buy it.. Thanks for your time.

The 55 has a 324 cubic inch engine while your 53 had a 303 but the 324 is a bolt in. They both had hydramatic transmissions and I believe the one from the 55 will fit. I don't believe the steering will fit but am not sure.

Absolutely great news about the engine and trans. Thank you

Did the same with power brake unit. The floor mounting plates are different specially from manual to power.
Enjoy. Ron

To clarify, I put the 1953 power steering pump and gear box in place of the 1955 manual steering gear box. The only thing i did not use from the 1953 was the power steering hose guide/retainer. I do not remember why i did not use it. But i do remember the 1953 pressure hose flexed a lot. I used the 1953 water pump pulley but did not change the crank shaft pulley. Used shorter belt from w/p pulley to p/s pulley. Reused existing one belt for gen, w/p and crankshaft.
Used the 1955 existing column and steering wheel.
The 1953 power brake setup less the toe pan mounting plate replaced the 1955 manual brakes with the addition of the 1955 toe pan for power brakes The brake light switch wiring exists under the 1955 dash for the 1953 brake light switch.
Maybe that is a little clearer.

Thanks for the clarification Ron. I am wanting to do the opposite. I want to use a 1955 Olds power steering set up, gear box column etc on my 1953 Olds super 88. I've got a line on a parts car from which Im going to use the engine trans etc and since it has the steering parts I figured I'd try to use them as my car had them removed by the former owner. Thanks again
