Need Data sheet for 1956 Oldsmobile Super 88 Conv.
Need Data sheet for 1956 Oldsmobile Super 88 Conv.
For the registration of the car on German streets, German authorities need a data sheet for the 1956 Oldsmobile Super 88 Convertible that I own.
I found the general data that is on the sales brochure and partially in the manual, but I constantly miss an overview that includes the curb weight.
I saw the total listing somewhere including the curb weight, but I cannot find it again.
Can you help with a photocopy of a data sheet?
Thanks

if not let me know all the info they require and I'll look through some books for you
That chart shows a "Min/Max" weight column. I'm guessing that that reflects that a particular model's weight could vary depending on what options were installed.
Just how precisely do you need to know the weight? I can't believe it makes a difference whether the car weighs 3,400 lbs or 3,600 lbs. You just need to know that it weighs about 3,500 lbs. They certainly don't need to know the weight to nearest ounce (or gram), do they?
I doubt very much there ever was a "data sheet" for these cars originally that came with every car that showed how much it weighed. The weight of the car is not needed in order to register it here in the U.S.
For what it's worth, the data charts in the back of "Setting the Pace, Oldsmobile's First 100 Years" show the weight of a 1956 Super 88 convertible at 4,200 lbs. Interestingly, that figure is larger than any of the weights shown on the website mentioned above. I think this just shows that there probably isn't any single, definitive, official source for information on the weight of these cars, especially now, more than 50 years after they were made. If you really to know it down to the single pound level, as you say, you'll have to have it weighed.
