the fuel pump on my 49 started working today. it wasnt pumping anything since i got the car a few weeks ago. so ive been filling the bowl to move it around. today i went out and primed it,and it just kept running. now it will start and run on its own. but i think ill still rebuild the pump, and the carb.

You should by all means rebuild your fuel pump/carb before trying to drive the car any distance.
Make sure that the rebuilt kits you purchase are of current manufacture and made for the modern unleaded fuel.. The rebuild will fail within a few months if you do not take the time to find the correct rebuilding parts... Been there done that.. Bill
