Looking for temp gauge sender.

Hello,

I own a '47 olds coupe and was lucky enough to find an original gauge set including the temp gauge.
Right now my car is fitted with a 350 chevy engine (yes a rocket will come later) and a mechanical water temp gauge.
I would like to connect the original one but to do that I need to find a electronic sender that I can connect to the gauge and into the block.
Anybody an idea of what resistance I should work with or does any sender work.
I guess this also works with connecting the + to one side and the other side to the sensor and it meassures the resistance no?
All advice is welcome.

Thank you

Joey

Hey you all. I still have this problem that I cannot find a sender to work.
I have ordered a aftermarket sender with 50k resistance cold and 7k at 180 degrees but the needle doesn;t move.
If I connect the + of the gauge with the - it shoots to overheat straight away so I know the gauge works.
I also connected a 100k potentiometer and it did move the meter but it didn;t liked the current that much and smoked away
Any info that can be usefull is helpfull.
As stated above my 47 olds has a chevy 350 in it now. (yes it will get a olds block later on)

Still nobody who knows the resistance?
If anybody with a 46-48 olds with original engine could measure the resistance of there temp sender that would be the solution for me.
thanks

Bump in the hopes you get the info you need. Sorry I don’t have your year so I can’t measure.

Original temp sensor for 1947 Olds will be a TS-11 replacement. Is the car 12v or 6v?
