ignition lock cylinder 1949 Olds 88
My 1949 Olds 88 is running great but needs a new ignition lock cylinder. It seems that the original is simply worn out. Turn it a bit to far past "on" and things suddenly go "off". Its developed dead spots. If the key isn't just so, it wont go! I've cleaned the cylinder with electric cleaner. The problem is slop. The good news is that I found a replacement for the key/cylinder. http://www.fusickautomotiveproducts....?number=IC3565
The bad news is, I have no idea how to remove the old cylinder from the rest of the ignition. Somehow, the lock comes out and the electrical component stays put. Anyone done this before?

Amazing how a paper clip can make a job so easy.
While you're mucking around in there spray some contact cleaner lube in the electrical part of the switch. There should be an opening somewhere on the switch.
