Hydramatic band adjust tools?

Is there anyone who will consider renting me the band adjusting tools for my '49 Olds 88 Hydramatic? I am willing to make a deposit so you will be sure to get your tools back! I want to adjust the bands in static mode...I have the tool to loosen the lock nut and tighten and loosen the band adjusters but don't have the screw in tool for the front band or the caliper style tool for the rear band...thanks for looking, Karl. kad36

You might consider asking a privately owned trans shop in your area thats been in business for a while to see if you can borrow/rent from them.

If you will post your need in the vintage section, you may get some response.I know I've
seen two or three members discussing what specialty tools they had for Hydramatic Band Adjustments. If no luck, there's a guy in Tennessee that sells these parts from time to time. His name is Bill Savrey (toolguy@aol.com). Best of luck, Larry

Rule of thumb on external band adj is to turn clockwise until tight and back of 7 full turns, always worked for me, USE this as a suggestion.

Good luck, Johnny

Hi Johnny, thanks for the tip...are you suggesting this adjustment for both bands? Thanks, Karl. (kad36)

I would suspect the tranny in question was used in other GM makes. If that suspicion is correct, you might try posting your request with the guys on the AACA Forum?
