Hood replacement update

Fenders have been repaired, primed and finished. I can't see anything of the fender damage the hood made as it wrapped itself over the windshield, looks super! A new windshield is ordered and should be installed the first of next week, they had trouble finding a clear windshield with out a colored strip at the top but someone came through today so thats done or at least ordered. Last but not least the hood is being dinged out(they found a little dent) and will be stripped and primed the last thing today. With any luck I may get it back the middle of next week........ Tedd

PS.. I feel a road trip coming on,maybe Fort Bragg on the north coast or the southern Oregon coast, gotta make it happen.

Stop by the mendocino mustard company! Maybe the brewery too!

Cheers!

Great to know it's finally happening. BTW, on your next road trip double check the hood latch personally. I'm so glad my 72 has a double latching system.

Sometimes even the double-latch doesn't work. I went to an Olds swap meet at the fairgrounds in Vallejo CA 5-6 years ago with my brother, who brought his spare '68 4-4-2 hood with him to sell. Lo and behold, a '68 4-4-2 comes off the freeway enroute to the swap meet and both the primary and secondary latches give way on its hood. The hood pops up and gets an awful bend in it - oddly enough, it appeared as if the only damage was the hood. Good thing for my brother, though - he got a nice price for his spare hood. But, sometimes even the double latch doesn't work the way it should. I'm guessing there might have been some adjustment issues with the latches.

Great to see the progress on your car, Tedd. Have fun on the road trip!

Glad to hear your car is going to be home soon. Your experience has made me tug on my hood now every time I pull out of the garage.
