I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that it is either a Series 76 or Series 78 Dynamic Cruiser 4-door sedan, 1947. I don't think it's possible to tell by looking at the exterior whether it has a Six or an Eight, so I don't think you'll be able to tell exactly whether it's a Series 76 or Series 78.
The car in your photo is definitely a two-tone, and the photos below show the Series 76 as single color while the 78 is a two-tone. If that means that only the 78 Series cars were available in two-tone color combinations, that could possibly indicate which series it is. But I don't know this for sure.
Ask your grandfather to step aside so we can get a better look at the car.
here is a link with details that may help: http://www.classiccardatabase.com/po...Oldsmobile.php
I think the Oldsmobile in the photo is a 1947 based on the chrome trim on the front fender. I had a 1947 Olds (convertible 68 series) and that piece of trim is different between 46 and 47s and I think 48s. I also think you are correct that it is a model 70 series based on what can be seen of the rear bumper. on 70 series the bum[er extended forward quite a ways and on the 60 series the rear bumper did not extend so far forward. Not sure how you know its an 8 cylinder instead of a 6 cylinder. Other than seeing under the hood there is only the model designation but that isn't pasted on the exterior of the car anywhere except the ID tag under the hood. A model 76 would be a 6 cylinder and a model 78 would be an 8 cylinder.
As a 4 dr. I think the model would be called a Club Sedan.

It's not a Club Sedan. All Club Sedans were two-door cars. The link you provide says this.
As the photos above say, the 4-door version was called simply a 4-door sedan. The OP's grandfather hides much of the car, but we can see that it is a 4-door.
