Help me identify the year/model of this Olds?

Can anyone help us identify the year/model of the Oldsmobile in this picture? We were told it was a 1946. Based on the shape of the back of the car I felt like it must be a 4-door sedan (Series 66 or 76 or 78??) model, but I couldn't match the license plate light or the bumper overrider with any photos I could find on-line. I greatly appreciate your assistance in advance.

-Kyle

The car in post #2 is a Plymouth somewhere around 1947.

Thanks so much. I was way off; no accounting for oral family history.... I spent some time snooping online but still wasn't able to resolve the license plate light. I'll try my luck on a Plymouth page. Thanks again.

I'm not convinced the car in the first picture is a Plymouth. The trunk medallion doesn't have the stop light incorporated in it like the the Plymouth does. Could be a different year Plymouth, but the back window and the bumper guards don't look quite the same to me, either.

Mike, go back and read my post. It says the car in Post #2 is a Plymouth. I also believe the second car in the first post is also a Plymouth. I don't know about the first one.

The wedding album was implying that the car was getting rigged with the sign and tin cans prior to the bride/groom photo. I hadn't considered that it's not the same car in both photos, but it's certainly plausible based on the observations that have been offered. I'm now fairly confident that the photo of the car getting 'rigged' is a 46-47 Plymouth Special Deluxe. The bride/groom photo is allegedly my uncles Oldsmobile. He was a young serviceman and supposedly began his lifelong allegiance to Oldsmobile with this car. Three of his siblings were married this year (1949); same church, same wedding dress, same car, same photo with the bride and groom looking out the window.
I also posted this question on the Antique Automobile Club of America forum once the one car appeared to be a Plymouth.
Thanks for your continued efforts!

Glenn I know you didn't say the first car was a Plymouth. I was just saying I wasn't convinced that it was. Hope the original poster can figure it out for sure.
