I am restoring a set of valve covers for another 324. My current ones I used the Fusick decal. I want to try hand painting these, I'm curious if anyone out there has done that. I already have the paint.
My advice would be to use the decals from Fusick again. Spray the valve covers with soapy water and you can move the decal in place easily. If you have steady hands or are a sign painter, go for the painting. When these things were painted at the factory, they actually used a roller to paint them. I used the decals on the 54 I had and they held up well.

Yes as I said I used the decals before with the techique you descibed. Thanks.
If you don't use the decals you could always use masking tape. Cut out the letters with a hobby knife and then you can spray the yellow color, or even use a roller.
