Anyone using Ethanol Defense by Bell Performance? If so, what do you think about it? Any other products to recommend?
Read some articles that scared the bejesus out of me on using E10 in my 56. I can't find a reliable station around here that has pure gas.

 

man around here every station sells no alcohol gas,costs about 30 cents more but well worth it.

The only gas we have available here in the Phoenix metro area is E10. My Cutlass has been running it for 20 years with no issues (wait, it was 15% MTBE for a while, then E10 for maybe the past 17 years?), but I don't know what the fuel system on your 56 is like. My car has rebuilt carb with ethanol resistant parts and new(er) rubber fuel hoses and fuel pump. If you can upgrade the rubber fuel system parts to modern ethanol resistant materials then I think you would be OK using the E10.

 

Don't believe all you read with regard to ethanol. We do not need or want it, but it is here to stay and not the end of the world. It is not going to destroy your ride.

 

Thanks for the feedback everyone...in other research I see that some folks are more concerned than others, and that it seems the key issues are power and water absorption. I'll just have to play it out and see what happens.

 

I'm with Dave on this.It's a pain to convert all your rubber parts over but once done unleaded does little to harm a engine unless it is very high performance build...... JMO.... Tedd

 

A few years ago, I had a guy at an oil change place try to sell me some sort of snake oil treatment he claimed was vital to keep the ethanol from eating out my fuel system. I had to laugh in his face because the car they were changing the oil on was my 2011 Impala, which is a flex fuel vehicle, engineered to run E85. I never went back to that place.
