I am considering using some e85 in my car maybe but i need a little info for mixing purposes. I have a high octane need and a 850 double pumper with no conversions for alcohol. how much 93 and e85 can you mix for around 12 to 1 compression for street driving. aluminum heads, a lot of overlap colder plugs also and can this be done,I also drop back the timing when needed.,all of my advance is in by about 2600 rpm. I need ideas just post them e85 is real close to me and carrying race gas has a lot of problems with it.

 

E85 is a whole new can of worms.
You'll need to make sure you upgrade your fuel system, recalibrate your carb, a bunch, and make sure you use the same mix everytime.

I'd stick with race gas myself, or run straight E85, not mix it with premium.

It take a secial carb set-up to run E85. Mixing it would not be a good idea. You might come out with an E65 Or maybe an E55. I have seen that buying out of the station is very iffy as to what you are getting. This was true when it first came out because of summer winter blends. So you might not know what you are feeding your engine. You might actually wind up watering down your 93 octane fuel you have in there. Then we can talk about condensation and maybe corrosion. I have never used the stuff, I don't even use Ethanol.

 

There were a great many performance guys experimenting with it. A rubber fuel line, fuel pump, and definitely a carb change is required. Some changed the fuel tank. Most had success and good reliability, however I don't recall any of them switching back and forth or mixing.

 

hey guys thanks for the input,I was just throwing this out there for ideas and octane purposes. I do not like to carry fuel around period,I just might keep blending my real lead additive but i am getting a little low on it. I probably have enough to get through this season and i have new aluminum heads with good seats also. I will probably fill up with leaded racing gas at byron for the trip home and have enough lead in the tank also at the same time.
