Hi guys,

Writing to you all from Australia. I have recently sold a 55 Chevy and am looking at a bit of a project car in a 1958 Super 88 Sedan.

I myself have never seen one in the flesh at any shows I have been to, but I love the extravagance the 1958 models had across all brands.

It was imported to Australia in the early 60's from what appears to be Canada, with 53k miles on it...only it is missing the engine and gearbox. More to come on that later.

It was last registered in Australia in 1967 and has been stored with numerous owners all over the country before being advertised for sale recently.

I have a photo of the trim tag, but the one of the VIN is not very clear.

The VIN tag reads:
General Motors of Canada
MODEL(?) (BLANK)
SERIAL 83669004600
ENGINE(?) N9159744

The trim tag reads:
STYLE 3669D
BODY NO 304649
PAINT 3207
TRIM 381
B.S.O 357 392

Can anyone assist with this, or know a hardcopy resource I can reference?

Did I not read somewhere that GM Canada has maintained all the records on cars built there? If so, one should be able to get accurate info direct from the source?

For most Canadian vehicles produced before 1964, the information available is generally limited to production date, quantity produced for Canadian sale, original colour and interior colour, engine number, size, horsepower and Engineering Specifications. No option information is available as it was not retained for individual vehicles.
