Correct hub caps?

Anyone know the correct hub cap for my 1949 Olds 88? I’ve only ever seen the dog dish type, but eBay also shows a full cover for the 1949. Which is correct? Mine tosses dog dish caps and I don’t want to loose them! I wonder if I should switch to the full wheel type?
here’s the dog dish like the ones I currently have:

and here’s the full cap I see on eBay:

No reason you can't use the full wheelcover if you can find a nice set. I think the red 50 pictured in your other thread had them.

Reckon that trim ring you have is making the small caps fly off? The caps are held on by clips on the wheel right? Try running without the trim rings and see if things improve.

Becareful if it's throwing dogdish caps. Full caps might be worse. Dogdish normally don't just roll off

The problem seems to be just one rim. The three retention clips look good, but logic tells me they aren’t bent correctly to give a good hold. I’ve messed with them, bending in and out but no improvement. I may end up swapping out rims with the spare and see how that goes.
Did both styles sell at the same time and in the same models?

Those wheel covers are correct for your car. Are you running radial or bias belted tires?

radial cokers. Waiting for some new radial BFG Silvertowns to be made.

You might do some research on the wheel and radial tire issue. Seems I read something way back about those early wheels with radial tires. I have radials on my 54 and have not had a problem but I think my wheels are made different than the ones on your 49. Maybe a call to Coker. Then I might be all wrong too.

The Oldsmobile parts book indicates that the hub caps, trim rings, and full wheel discs were all sold separately. The same caps were used on 1948 & 1949 (part number 9701088). The same trim rings were used from 1940-1955 (part number 560241) or if 3" wide 1941-1956 (part number 3720621). The 1949 series 76 & 88 full wheel disc was part number 556740. The 1949 series 98 was part number 556741 for the full wheel disc. They changed in 1950. The hub cap retaining clips were the riveted type and were the same from 1939-1953 (part number 502122).
