I am hoping to have plates on my 55 this Friday!! It will stay with the "patina" look for a year or two while I build my bank account back up but mechanically its ready to rock. I was lucky enough to find 4 white wall Goodyear super cushion tires (reproduction) for sale locally a few years back, lightly used, the gentlemen I bought them from had them on his 1952 Mercury and didn't like the way it drove so he switched to radials, I love the way they look. Pretty excited!!
that's awesome! enjoy every second of it!! I'd almost always choose to keep original paint if at all possible. Why? Because you'll "drive" the car and enjoy it with friends without worry about an expensive paint job. The only time I choose to paint is to stop rust and save a body that Im loosing fast. Enjoy!
Thanks!! I'm really going back and forth on what to do, I'm quite content with the patina but at the same time a pretty paint job would be cool but the amount of work involved has me turned off of that idea for now, But for sure it is ready for many miles!
The outside of that car looks awesome. I would not change a thing about it. Personally, I would completely restore the interior (if not already done) and leave the outside alone. Many people search a long time to find a car with exactly that look.
Thanks!! The seats have been re-upholstered, the padded dash is near perfect, the door cards are presentable, rock solid floor too, I've seen ten year old cars with a worse interiors!!
