56 Olds seat skirts.

So, mine are not in terrible shape, but cracked, and very brittle. So, for my Olds-Mad project, I decided to make fiberglass replicas, for more durability. So, I cobbled up the fixes on the originals, made molds, (had to be 3 pieces, due to it's complex shape) and then popped out some copies. Except for minor void behind the gelcoat, as it was difficult to get the cloth to stay in the mold vertically, and upside down, the came out nice! Easily touched up with some Duraglas, and bondo.

Great job, I have done a similar job using just the original pieces on the back side only with laminating resin and fiber glass tape to reinforce the whole thing. Any cracks on the front were addressed with superglue and Styrofoam cup mixture, then sanded smooth with 600 wet or dry, the whole thing then wrapped with vinyl wrap. Went fairly quick for me, looked stock, and every thing set up quick and allowed me to go from one piece to the next without having to let something dry for a day or more. You probably sell repos of those skirts as they are brittle as glass and most cars have lost broken them long ago...Tedd

I agree, you see so many of the '54-'56 ones busted up with the metal seat bracket coming thru. I too was able to fix mine similar to how Ted fixed his. Very nice!
