1955-56 Olds Power Seat Interchange?

Hello: I figure someone in the club will have either documents showing the interchange for my 55/56 Olds power seat with other GM brands - primarily Chevy. I will post some photos of the seat and skirting I have. Are the floors for 55 - 58 Olds the same? Will this power seat track fit Olds/Pontiac/Buick/Chevy 55 - 58? I believe the full size cars got the new "X" frame in 1959. Thank you in advance for your help. Regards, Trent in Los Angeles

I can't help you on the compatibly of the seat parts. the x frame was introduced a lot earlier than 1959 (1948-49 I think) unless your words NEW mean something different than what I am thinking. The floors would be different after 56 and the seat skirts probably wold not interchange because of the major body changes that took place in 57 but maybe some one with a Hollander could look up the part numbers and see if they match That would be my semi educated guess.... Tedd

PS good looking skirts, there hard to find in that good of condition.

1955-56 Olds Seat

Hi Tedd: Thank you for your contribution. The skirts and seat frame have been sitting in the garage for many years out of the sun and usage. I thought there was changes to the frame for 59 allowing the lower wider bodies. I think we leave it to the experts. I hope that someone with mid 50's GM products will know the difference and can explain. Of course, someone with Hollander manuals available would also be interesting for information. Thanks for looking. Regards, Trent in Los Angeles

It would have been better if you had specified the exact year, model, and whether 2 doors or 4 doors when looking for interchanges. Often these things make a difference in the seats and mechanisms.

Floor pan interchange is a bit difficult as the Oldsmobile parts book doesn't show any group number for the floor pans. It says "available during production only".Hence, I don't have the information needed to say if they are the same or not.

I couldn't find that seven digit number on the seat side panel in the parts book.

Hollander: The seats themselves will interchange between 1955 & 1956 Olds if they are 2 doors. Two door seats do not interchange with four door seats.
The seats themselves will interchange between 1955 & 1956 Olds if they are 4 doors. Also the seats will interchange with the 1955 & 1956 Buick Special & Century if they are also 4 doors.
The powered seat track will interchange between 1954, 1955, & 1956 Olds (as long as the 1956 is not the 6 way).

I have the Chevy chassis parts book but not the body parts book, so I don't know what is the same or different. But as far as Hollander is concerned there is no interchange except with the Buick as indicated above (just on the seats).

Hi Ozzie: Thank you so much for your help!! I will try harder to find a part number somewhere on the seat frame. I think the dimensions on the holes will not help with your research, just part numbers. Regards, Trent in Los Angeles
