55 windshield gasket

Is there anyway to tell from the vehicle serial # whether I have a 1st or 2nd series car for ordering a new windshield gasket. There wasn't enough of the old gasket for me to determine whether it had grooves on the side or not. Thanks.

In the Olds Parts Book , in group 10.092 CHANNEL, WINDSHIELD GLASS (Rubber)

1955 exc. Conv.-1st type....(used with bolt on 1954 style).............4640854

1955 exc. Conv.-2nd type * ; 1956 exc. Convertibles...(used with clip on style)...4657528

* 1955 2nd type has shorter tee leg slot for upper moulding.

Don't know what to make of this , but maybe it will give you a clue, Since you have had hands on experience removing the old moulding.
