The 53 is finally registered

Well we bought our 53 98 4 door sedan back in august 2011 and its finally registered and we can now drive it........legally ill share the long journey as to why so long, first when i bought the car in california i didn't realise that on the title the engine number was where the vin number should be which i was told is what happened many years ago, problem was when i sent my import approval to our government they did not recognise it as a vin number and would not give me the approval, so my shipper helped me sort this out , we had someone come out and vin verify the car and sent the paper work to the california DMV well about 4 months later we get the new title only to discover the DMV got a digit wrong in the vin so another month went by to fix that, so she sat collecting dust for almost 6 months at the shippers yard while other paper work on top needed to be sorted, when it got here it needed work to pass registration alot of the work i did other work i could not do given to mechanics well problem is with cars like this is they know its not a daily driver so they keep booking work in and leave your car in the corner, but all is good the wife and i are going for a cruise tonight.

Good grief, the pain of dealing with a U.S. state DMV is felt all the way over in Sydney. It took me four trips recently to get a title change through for a car gifted to me from another state. The only difference between the third and fourth trip is that I went to a different clerk, the earlier one "had an problem with" a totally irrelevant penned in entry on the old title. This was actually my car that I titled over to my father back when I was in the military 25 years ago. Anyways, have fun with it. I bet you get a lot of stares from people. Looks like you found the rocker panel trim?

Yeh my shipper said be prepared for a long wait, as for the rocker mould, no still havn't really looked for one, been to busy working on the car and working to pay for the car LOL,the one missing is on the right, but i orded a pair of rocker mouldings for my 55, i had a little bingle in it and damages the left side of the car, i had to claim through insurance as i damaged alot of the side of the car, i only need the left rocker moulding so when i get it back i might use the 2 on the 55 and see if i can take it to some one to fabricate 1 moulding out of them for the 53 even if its not a exact match its better than nothing, the wife and i had a great cruise last night she drives nice, we love these fifties olds, just need a sticker on the back window saying, THIS IS NOT A CHEV NOR A BUICK,
cheers chris.ps we found the kids flip out more than the adults, for the kids i suppose its like watching a scene from the movie back to the future
