37 wiper motor
37 wiper motor
Wondering if the wiper motor for 37 is specific to that year or any vacuum operated motor will work. I got my pump on and am getting good vacuum up to the motor but it will need rebuild. Fusick lists a 35-36 wiper they have but without a picture, who knows? They also have a rebuild service but the 36 NOS one is cheaper. Any thoughts?

This isn't direct help but it might be something to check out. My Hollander Interchange book doesn't cover wiper motors but on a hunch I checked the Interchange list of windshield glass thinking that if the glass was identical there was a good chance the windshield wipers incl. motor might also be interchangable. The Hollander shows the 38 Olds to be the same windshield as the 37. Also 37 Buick century and special and all 37 and 38 Pontiacs except convertibles have the same windshield glass as your 37 Olds. If my hunch is true it gives you more places to look. Be sure to keep your old one so you can compare if you buy a replacement.

I have something that might reenforce your findings. A company that makes electric replacements for vacuum wiper motors breaks down their list as 37-38 being different from 35-36 and 39 & 40. That goes with your theory about wiper motors being the same as the windshield.

Thanks for that further information Highwayman.
I'm into 30s and 40s GM cars and have been for several years. GM apparently did a lot of parts sharing even across different divisions back then. On my 47 Olds Convertible (Model 66) I've been lucky on parts any number of times because 46-48 Chevy stuff will often interchange. That is not true of the larger Oldsmobiles like Series 70 and 90.
