324 pulling help!!

Got everything set up last night, removed all engine mounts and all bolts holding the transmission to the engine. Attempted removing engine, but the transmission doesn't want to let go of the engine. What am I missing here? Never pulled an engine this old before, did I miss a step?

Did you remove the torque converter bolts?

Ah, nope. That would be wise huh? lol. do I remove the flywheel casing in order to access these? Or did I over look them during my 6000 times checking for more transmission bolts?

You probably forgot to take off the four bolts that hold the flex plate to flywheel. Your gonna have to rotate the engine to get to them all

Inspection plate on bottom of transmission...it's a torus coupling there with ~ 30 bolts or so - and fluid will come out so have a pan ready -

x2 what Olds Dad said, but I always pull the trans and engine together. For me it's easier and faster than laying on my back working in a confined space removing those 28 bolts. Plus once everything is out you can move the car around if need be, otherwise you will need to support the transmission with a jack and your car is stuck where it sits.Just a thought...Tedd

When you pull those together, your better have a good hoist because you are talking a lot of weight. The old hydramatic has to be several hundred pounds plus the engine. I bet the two of them together is close to 1,000 pounds. If I ever have to pull the engine, I think I would do it your way Tedd.
