1959 Olds front bearings.
1959 Olds front bearings.
Hi All,
I am replacing the front bearings on my stock 1959 Olds Delta 88. I ordered a set from Fusick and Rock Auto and they don`t fit. I am 100% sure that the drums have not been changed, since my car is low miles and basically untouched.
The p/n from Fusick is 909066 (Inner) and has a diameter of appr. 75 mm. The drum I have has a slightly smaller diameter, appr. 72 mm.
The outer bearing appears close, but real tight. I ordered them with Rock Auto and p/n is NAT 873.
Has anyone experienced that the socalled stock bearings didn`t fit? And replacement details?
Thanks,

The numbers are on the old bearings --- along the ledge of the bearing....
The bearings you ordered in both cases are Chineseum... and they are known to be too thin....
I have *** N.O.S. *** U.S.A. made *** Bearings --- that are Always Perfect.......
Always best to simply call me --- 516 - 485 - 193five --- Craig.....

you really should look for quality parts for the bearings; had them from Fusick or Kanter (don´t rembember exactly) for my 48 Oldsmobile model 66 and they fight optical;
had massive problemes to adjust them (too tight or to loose..); gave up, cleaned the old ones, put the correct grease on it and now it is like it is, no play and no noise..

My issue is not as much the quality, but trying to find bearings that fit. I am at the process of getting them out and getting the correct dimensions. I will probably call Craig and get NOS if available.
I do find it strange that the drums have different specs than stated as OEM.
