Smile 1957 Super 88 door trim

Hello all. Another newbie here. I have a '57 Super 88 4 door with J2 set up that I just bought from a neighbor after her husband, also my friend passed way. He had got it from another friends son after he passed away. Not looking good for people who have owned this car. He had pulled all the outside door trim off to start the stripping process for paint. The paint on it is to nice for a repaint other than the hood. I am going to put the trim back on and leave paint as is. All that to get to my question. The top front door molding has a hole in it for a screw where it goes between the vent window and the door shell. The hole does not line up with the screw that goes from the vent window into the door. I have looked with a mirror and don't see anything that makes me think there was ever a screw there. No holes. Also the gap between the vent window chrome and the door isn' t wide enough for the molding to slide down between them because of the countersunk hole in the trim. How do I install this molding?

Thanks in advance,
David
