I think the 54 and 55 interchange but the 56 is different. If nobody here speaks up, call Chip at Power Steering Services in Springfield, MO. He rebuilds them and is a nice guy. If I dig long enough, I might be able to find the manual box that came out of the 54.

No worry about the date thing. We have all done it multiple times and I got a laugh out of it. Thanks for the compliments about my car. As I tell people, she may look brand new but she is still 63 years old and requires maintenance to keep her going. We do enjoy her though. Would love to visit at some point. Where are you located?

Some of the issue between the 55 and 56 boxes are the 56 uses a rag joint and the 54-55 don't.Probably other issues I can't remember but the rag joint is a obvious one... Tedd

Redo olds, I live in New Caney Texas , will catch up with you one day, not many 54 s left. I have had both 54 and 55 s I thought the 54 was much better built, but the 55 was better looking. have a 55 , 88 added power steering and A/C to it trying now to get a minor restoration done, engine still good as is the transmission and rear end, working on the rust (surface) drove the car every day for years. needs work now, oil leaks and rear seal in hydramatic.
