1955 Olds not getting gas
I have a 55 Olds and is hard starting, I tried to look down the carb to see if there is gas squirting down the carb but very little to none is flowing. I知 gonna first check the rubber hose from the gas tank to the line. I looked at the fuel pump and looks to be difficult to remove. Any tips on removal?

Does it start right up if you add a shot of gas down the carb? For a test of the fuel pump you can remove the fuel line from the carb put it in a coke bottle and in about 15 seconds of cranking it should pump about 8 ounces of fuel into the bottle.
Two bolts and two gas lines plus the vacuum lines on top of the pump and it should come right out. It's not the easiest place to work but what is on a 65 year old car. The hardest part is the bolt on the left of the pump it's mostly a feel thing if you are working from the top. When replacing it make sure the lever on the pump is riding on the cam lobe correctly. Not hard really just awkward Tedd.

Thanks for the reply, I’ll try the gas down the carb first and if that doesn’t work I’ll move to the fuel line removed to see if any gas shoots out at the line. I did see the bolt on the right of the pump but couldn’t see the one on the left. Now that I know there’s one there I’ll check it out. Would I have better access from underneath?

I have the service manual next time I get over to where the car is at I’ll check it out. The car has been sitting for a couple of years now ( too many irons in the fire) but the last time it was running it was running poorly, seemed to be starving for gas. I’ll have more time to spend on it now. I’ll keep you posted. I love your 54 and 55’s especially the Liberator! My 55 is a Ninety-Eight 4dr. Sedan.

While the line is off to the pump, you can also try and blow air back into the line and check for clogs or restrictions that end. When you do, make sure you take the gas cap off.
My car sat for a long time, and the gas had gelled. I had to blow out the fuel line to the tank, even after draining the tank. Worked great after that.
