I need a starter for a 1941 straight eight with a hydramatic trans.

If you have one that is bad you could probably have it rebuilt. If you don't even have a core then try looking at Kanter or Fusicks. 41 is pretty old, but they might carry it.

Thank you. But I really do not want to pay their core charge.

Unfortunately, that might be your only option (unless you hold out for a long while until you find one). Good luck in your search.

You might find something on the H.A M.B. hot rod site. Those guys are changing most of the original engine stuff out. Also give the AACA forum a shot, lots of old stuff there.

Have you checked to see what year span that starter was used and if there is any crossover to Buick Cad or Pontiac? Probably not though because of the automatic.......Tedd
