1928 Oldsmobile F28 4door

Hey Everyone:
Recently purchased a 1928 Oldsmobile F28. It is in need of total restoration. The entire body and cab is made of wood which has completely rotted away over the years of sitting.
Does anyone know where to get an entire body parts pattern for building the new cab body. Have a wood shop and purchased the wood for the job. If anyone can help with info I would be much appreciating.
Mike

Unfortunately, I can't help you with the information that you need, but I can say that I greatly admire people such as yourself that take on the hardest challenge and tackle the restoration back to original on a car this old and this scarce. A far greater challenge than restoring a '60s or '70s car, or building a hot rod and IMO, a far more worthwhile endeavor because you are only in part restoring the car for yourself, but ultimately you're restoring the car for future generations so that they can have a living artifact of 1920s American history and of Oldsmobile history.

For inspiration, here's a nice photo of a brand new '28 Olds in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.

It's actually called the National Antique Oldsmobile Club (NAOC).

https://www.antiqueolds.org/

You can find their list of model year advisors on the site without having to be a member. The contact info for the 1928-1929 person is below. Interesting email address for a late '20s Olds expert.

If you do contact him, let us know what you find out.

I restored a 1928 Overland Whippet that was in the same condition as you describe your Oldsmobile. I was fortunate to join the ****** Overland Knight Registry. They had all the blueprints for the wood. I wonder if the Olds Club might be able to provide help in that area. Good luck on your project!

Yes I still have it. I bought the car when I was 15 years old as a basket case. That was 50 years ago. I have since acquired two more, a 1929 Coupe and a 1930 Coupe. All had to have the wood replaced. Never run out of projects here!

Wow. I would think most people would quit after one, but I guess you already know the ropes so the second goes easier I guess? Bravo for bringing American history back to life. What a thrill to be able to sit behind the wheel and relive 1928.
