Shifting High??

92 Cuttlass 2 door. Recently swapped out the 3.1 60* v6 for the downgraded 2.8 .. Went the cheapest route doing all of the work MYSELF (the life of being broke). Well, started the car up sunday..added all of the fluids to it like it asks for.. went to circle the neighborhood and the transmission isnt shifting until about 3500 rpm. Is there something i couldve missed?? The transmission fluid checks out from what im seeing.. What else would cause the high shifting? Everything else runs like a champ .. HELP??
