This came up in another thread but as far as I know I can't find the answer anywhere. Was there a starter lock out with a switch on the clutch that didn't allow the starter to turn unless the clutch was depressed? I know there was a reverse lock out in 69 with the backdrive linkage. I've looked EVERYWHERE in the 68 assembly manual looking for this elusive switch that was mentioned elsewhere. As far as I know there weren't any safety type switches like this in 68. All my 68 has is the back up light switch on the tranny. Section 12, page 111 shows the neutral start feed switch jumper for 35U21 (rallye pack) option. The next page (112) shows the neutral start switch on the column for the auto on the column and a different type switch for a standard trans and refers you to Section 7 for the floor shift but it applies to auto floor shifts only. The switch on the column that the manual trans connects to can't do anything because there's no linkage on a floor shift column. I don't see any switches associated with the manual transmissions that actually do anything. I'm assuming the one shown on page 112 just acts as a jumper. Right now I've jumped mine as shown for the 35U21 option but I have no idea why that specifically applies to the Rallye Pack. I'm pretty good with wiring and my car runs fine with zero electrical issues but this has got me stumped. The Service Manual wiring diagram is generic for a column shift car so it isn't much help.

There was no neutral safety switch on 1968 stick shift cars. The clutch neutral switch started in 1969.
There was a jumper wire connecting the two purple wires in the harness.
