65 jetaway trans fuse blowing

1965 442 w/jetaway tranny. The 9 amp trans fuse keeps blowing. Here's what i've done so far.

1. Ran jumpers from the tranny to the cockpit and powered each solenoid separately tru a 10 amp fuse & remote starter switch. Both the detent & pitch solenoid worked properly and did not blow the 10 amp fuse.

2. Took the pitch sw apart, cleaned all contacts and found nothing wrong internally. Put it back on and checked for internal & external shorts thru full range of movement. None.

3. The harness from sw to tranny is good. The power wire has no shorts to ground.

4. Each solenoid ohms at 14.5 at the tranny connector??

5. Yesterday i removed the pitch wire from the switch connector and drove it. I had great downshifts at least 7 times at various speeds and the 9 amp fuse remains good.

So it seems the pitch solenoid is blowing the fuse. Before i spend $50 to replace it, i sure would like some input from you guys.

Thanks.........steve

check the wiring to see if it has chafed through anywhere between the throttle switch and the tranny connector. also, check the wire coming from the fuse block(iirc, it's the orange one).

drop the pan and check the wiring inside for chafing.
