I have come across a turbo 350 out of a chevy camaro all new rebuilt everything the same but top of trans has point on top not like olds were its flat ive been told will not fit 350 motor can any one tell me if this is true and can i make any mods to make it work thanks

 

Chevy bolt patterns are different than Buck / Olds / Pontiac.

You can make it fit with an adapter plate.

Ask others here who have done the deed for specific details, and whether it's worth it, or better to trade it off for one that fits.

You can use the transmission, but will need to use a dual pattern plate, washers for proper torque converter spacing, and some longer engine dowels.

I've never used one and would not use one in a car that sees the race track on weekends. But for a daily driver it may be OK. Now I have seen a TH350 that had both bolt patterns although I'm not sure what years they used them. So you might double check the transmission pattern to see if it has both patterns in it. Most would be either one or the other though. John

My limited research would indicate 1980 to '84 or '85, but I won't commit myself .

I've used the plate on a 400 behind a well-built 396 and never had a problem, even a couple passes at the track.

 

I have a dual pattern th350 in my car right now. I'll check the year of it next time I'm out there.

 

I used to own one, but that was loooong ago in a galaxy far, far away.

 

Be careful, since I think most of those were TH350C transmissions, with the lockup torque converter.

 

Any problems running the 350C without using the lock?

I know it isn't hard to create a "lock-up circuit," but if someone just wanted to use it to replace a standard TH350, would he notice any performance difference?

Some years ago i tried to put one in a 73 cutlass trans was out of 67 chevy imapla but trans was 1inch to long at converta so ill have to do some measuring even thouht the bolt pattern is the same, this trans is out of an elcamino not sure of year

 

A better but more expensive apporch may be to get a new bell housing. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/JPT-92452/ check this out. They make one for all the GM trannies, I'm thinking of getting one for a TH-400 in my 85 chevy 4x4 to put a 455 in there. I'm not completly sold on doing that yet ! This way it can be used on either engine for future use. You have to cut off your old bellhousing to do this though.
