Tranny Linkage
Tranny Linkage
I have a 69 Cutlass convert with a 455, TH400 and a Hurst dual gate. My problem is that I'm finding nearly impossible to adjust the linkage to be able to get park and low in the same setting. I had Hurst rebuild the shifter but am still having the same problem. I'm wondering if anyone has overcome a similiar issue? Could the tranny arm be incorrect?
Hi Pete,
I'm not sure if the cable's original or not? Tinkered with it again last night and can now get park and low (after die grinding the hole on the tranny arm a little) but only 1st and 2nd on the right side of the shifter. It's out about a 1/4 to 1/2 an inch from getting all three. It's driving me nuts!
Just purchased a gear vendor and desperatly need all three gears. Any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Ended up putting in a new cable and die grinding the tranny arm until it worked. Not necessarily what I'd recommend but being an extremely frustrated back yard mechanic at the time......it did the trick!
?? Your method is what worked for me too.Good luck to those in the future who travel this path.
